The collection is co-owned by the municipalities of Lead Deadwood and Spearfish in South Dakota. Potentially, many never before seen images of the early days of the entire Black Hills region are in the collection. The grand opening of Spearfish Canyon Road, presidential visits and a vast selection of early mining photos are among the many images that will have great interest to the general public. Also included are graduation, wedding and family photos that will be useful to genealogists

FASSBENDER PHOTOGRAPHIC COLLECTION -- Stagecoach with 6 horse team. On December 16, 2014 contributor Kevin Miller had these thoughts. In 1926 Deadwood and Lead celebraed their 50th Anniversaries, Golden Jubilee. Period buildings were constructed near Central City in a valley. Old Deadwood's main street was somewhat created along with other structures. This may be from that but the retaining wall in the back may indicate otherwise. So it is probably old buildings that still existed in either Deadwood or Lead during this same time period. The coach is for a parade or celebration. Not a stagecoach in real time 1876-1900 Lawrence County. May still be an original coach. Probably a staged photo.
